How do I set a recipient to receive email, SMS, or both?

Learn how to customize the notification channels for an individual recipient.

Not every recipient wants to be notified the same way. Some prefer a text message, others an email, and some want both. The standard notification settings apply to all recipients by default, but you can change the channels for an individual recipient whenever a different preference is requested. This allows you to accommodate requests such as email only or SMS only, while every other recipient continues to follow the standard settings.

This change can be made from either the web platform or the mobile app, and the steps for each are outlined below. For the complete illustrated guide, see How to Manage a Recipient’s Notification Channels.

On the web platform

  1. Select Recipients from the main navigation menu, find the recipient, and click Open.

  2. Turn off Defer to template level notification channel configuration, which is on by default.

  3. Under Enabled Channels, select the channels you want (Email, SMS, or both).

On the mobile app

  1. Tap Manage, then Recipients, and tap the recipient’s name.

  2. Tap the edit icon on the bottom right.

  3. Scroll down and turn off Use Account Defaults, which is on by default.

  4. Select the channels you want (Email, SMS, or both), then tap Save.

SMS notification is a paid feature under specific plans. To activate this service, please contact us. Email notifications are included by default.
