How to Enable Placeholder Email for New Recipients

Learn how to enable Placeholder Email so a temporary email address is automatically added when creating a new recipient.

Only Owners and Admin users can enable additional features, including Placeholder Email. Feel free to check the full list of mailroom users and their permissions here.

What is Placeholder Email?

Placeholder Email lets you prefill a temporary email address whenever you create a new recipient, instead of leaving the email field empty or requiring you to enter one manually each time. This is useful if your mailroom doesn't always collect a recipient's real email address at the point of check-in.

Enabling Placeholder Email

  1. Open the Parcel Tracker mobile app and tap Settings.

  2. Navigate to Parcel Detection.

  3. Toggle on Placeholder email.

  4. Enter your desired Placeholder email address in the field provided (for example, [email protected]).

  5. Tap Update to save your changes.

Where the Placeholder Email Appears

Once enabled, this placeholder address will be automatically applied to new recipients in two scenarios:

  • Adding a recipient manually - the placeholder address will prefill the email field when you create a new recipient.

  • Scanning a parcel for an unrecognized recipient - if the app doesn't find an existing recipient matching the scanned name, it will prompt you to create one, with the placeholder address prefilled.
