How to Log Inbound Parcels

Learn how to log inbound parcels on Parcel Tracker, whether you have a barcode or not.

How to Log Parcels

Parcels can be logged on Parcel Tracker through both our Web Platform & Mobile App. This article will show you the exact steps on how to do so on both your computer and mobile device.

Note: All users can log inbound Parcels. For a complete overview of user permissions, see the full list of mailroom users and their permissions.

This feature is available in every plan. See the graph below.

Mobile App

  1. On your mobile application, tap the In tab. This is also the default screen when you open the app.

  2. Tap Check In.

  3. For each parcel, hold down the Circular Button to begin scanning.

    1. The app will automatically capture the recipient’s name and parcel details.

  4. If prompted, hold down the Circular Button again to scan the parcel’s barcode.

    1. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for additional parcels.

  5. To edit the most recent scanned parcel:

    1. Tap the black bar at the top of the screen that displays the most recent scanned parcel.

    2. Update or add any parcel details as needed then tap Save.

  6. Once all parcels are scanned, tap the Parcel Cart icon.

  7. Review your scanned parcels, then tap Check In to finalize.

When adding additional details to the most recently scanned parcel, you can also upload photos manually by taking a new photo or selecting one from your gallery.

How to Manually Select Recipients and Input the Barcode

If the recipient’s name is blurry, faded, or not recognized, you can manually assign the recipient and input the barcode.

After completing steps 1 and 2 above, proceed with the following:

    3. Hold down the Circular Button to scan the parcel.

        a. The built-in AI will attempt to detect the recipient’s name.

        b. Suggested matches may appear based on the scan.

    4. Assign the recipient:

        a. Select a recipient from the AI-generated suggestions or create a new

            recipient.

        b. Alternatively, you can tap Select Recipient to search and choose manually.

    5. Capture or enter the parcel identifier:

        a. Hold down the Circular Button to scan the barcode, or

        b. Tap the Barcode icon to enter it manually, or

        c. Tap the Dice icon, then the Check mark to generate and confirm an

             identifier.


6. Tap the Parcel Cart icon.

7. Review your parcels, then tap Check In to finalize.

Web Platform

On our Web platform, you can only log parcels manually by typing the recipient's name and then the parcel's barcode.

  1. In your Parcel Tracker account, click Parcels in the main navigation bar.

  2. Click the + Add Parcel button.

  3. Select the recipient and add the Identifier (tracking number or your own identifier). You can also choose to add a random identifier by clicking on Generate ID.

  4. Clicking on + Show Advanced allows you to add advanced details to the parcel, such as Courier, Tags, Notes, Dimensions, among others.

  5. Click Add Parcel.

Note: Once a parcel has been created, you can use the web platform to upload additional photos to that parcel. Simply open the specific parcel record, and the option to upload a photo will be available within its details.
